Well, I made a bracelet, but I used rose quartz stones and they're really pale. So let me know if you think they'll work. If not, I can make something else, it's not a problem. There's a picture here:

That's great. Thanks for the reminder, too. I took bracelet pics this morning and I need to post them. Remember, these bracelets will be appreciated by the women who recieve them. I see it as kind of a "planned" random act of kindness. Edited to add pics. The first 2 were aleady made, so I decided I would send those, too. The lattice one with the button toggle is the newest one.

Very nice Subeeds, I'm planning to make a spiral bracelet as well, and have been fooling a bit this afternoon trying some different color combinations. I think I've settled on a pale gray core with a "hot pink" outer spiral. I just realized that the pink beads are dyed (something I normally avoid, but I was shopping for pinks). I might "wash" the sample to see what happens to the color. (There was no apparent color loss after swirling my sample around in warm, sudsy, water and leaving to dry on a paper towel, so I'm happy about that.

One of the samples I made was for a double spiral. I found the instructions here: http://beadweaverdre...ublespiral.html
The sample I did looks okay, but I was having a lot of trouble going through the size 8 core beads (and kept forgetting whether I had flipped the spiral over or not), so I'm not sure I'm doing it quite right. I was using Nymo D and a size 12 needles, and would try a 4 or 6lb test Fireline and a finer needle if I try it again.

Projects like this are a good excuse to try something new, and stretch a little. I love doing spirals, and all the variations, so I plan to do at least one spiral. I have another bracelet on hand--just a simple memory wire bracelet, but the beads are a pretty shade called "Sparkle Antique Rose."

Am I correct that the October 15 deadline is when the bracelets need to go in the mail? Rhonda

Edited to add the pictures. Sorry the pictures are so large. Another message board that I frequent automatically resizes things. I'll see if I can figure it out later. Done...with the help of Jennifer Kramer.
(Bracelets sent Priority Mail 10/02/07)

Is it too late for me to join? I can make something this week.

I forgot I had this one, would it be okay? I'm still planning on making another so I can send two.

This is a very pretty bracelet, and I like how you've incorporated the Live, Laugh, Love beads. The pearls are such a pretty shade of pink! Rhonda

For an interesting bit of trivia, did you all know that the color pink comes from the flower called "clove pinks" (also known as "pinks" and "gillyflowers")? You may know it by the more popular name of carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus).

SuBeadz - When you said the flower name "clove pinks" it really brought back a sensory memory - When I was a kid we had these growing down the side of our driveway. They are actually a little different from regular carnations in that they really do smell like cloves! The flowers are small, but really pack a wallop in the scent department.

Sue: Help. Mailing advice please!

Do you mean that they should be in the mail by the October 15th or at their destination by October 15. I am mailing from Vancouver. So I think I must be the furthest away. I am not really sure about how fast things would get there after they went through the border.
Cheers & Blessings

Suze

Here is my second one. The pink is paler than that, it's rose quartz. Just need to toss it in the tumbler.

Yes, the flowers are smaller, and very fragrant. You can still find D. caryophyllus, but not easily. So many modern flowers have been bred for bigger blooms, etc. I was at a nursery a few years ago, and was standing in front of a display of Heliotrope and the plants were practically scentless. Fortunately, I haven't encountered any more of those. It's an interesting plant, but I can't imagine growing one that didn't have the fragrance. I used to volunteer in a Colonial-period garden, and we grew close to 100 different plants that were as close as we could get to the originals. At any rate, I learned a lot of interesting "stuff" in the process.

Misty, your second bracelet is another winner.

Earlier today, I posted a link to the video on another message board, and then decided to watch it again. I get misty just thinking about it. This is such a worthwhile project. I hope we come close to matching what "the bracelet lady" gave away. Rhonda

Here is the one I've done. It's a shaggy loop chainmaille -- the only chainmaille I've done. I have another friend who just found out she has stage IV cancer and last week had a double masectomy. I made her one as well.

I just did a quick photo, that's why the quality is off.

Kathryn, I love that bracelet!

I'm sorry about your friend's diagnosis. How is she doing?

Thanks for asking. She is doing as well as can be expected. She has great spirit and is determined to beat this. They've only given her about a 10% chance of survival. She is already a survivor of leukemia, and has a 2-year-old daughter.

All these bracelets are so pretty!

Oh wow Kathryn...that is horrible. I have a friend who is a multiple cancer survivor - they said she'd never have kids either and she has 2! People can do amazing things.

Rhonda...I am GOING to get you some bracelets...I just need to remember when I get home! lol

I'm also posting about this on my blog so we may get a few more participants. I hope! :)

Misty, Oct. 15 is the deadline for mailing the bracelets, so you are not to late with your pretties. Suzesea, I think you are the farthest away, too. I don't know how long it would take for yours to get here. I know that when I get an order from FMG by priority mail, it takes about 3-4 days for it to get across the country. I have no clue how long it would take to arrive from Vancouver. Anybody got any ideas on that? Fell free to chime in if you do.

Here are the bracelets that I made. I hadn't strung a bracelet in a little while, it was kinda fun to do it again.
