me!! me!!! I'll make at least one for sure. I just need to know what it is they are wanting....the one they showed has no pink in it...is it just breast cancer or others? So the main thing is the, what do you call it, ribbon shape?

Just any kind of pink bracelet will be fine, Laurel, or some kind of pink focal/accent beads. It's just for breast cancer. I sent the news anchor a link to our thread here and she was happy. Wants me to keep her posted. So that's cool. Thanks everybody.

My Mom's a survivor too! So I am definitely there!

Just a bracelet in whatever style we do, or are there any preferred type?

As long as it has pink, style is your choice. Thanks.

I would like to see what people make for this. Can we post our creations?

I am still struggling with the size because my mom, the survivor, has edema in one arm/hand, which is a side effect of radiation treatments. Her arm is chronically swollen and she has to wear a size 8 bracelet. I wonder how prevalent this side effect is? So I may just go with elastic to be safe.

Just seeing this thread and I'd like to join in as well. I have several BCA bracelets made up, and I just came up with a very cute stretchy style that I'll do as well.

I've been a huge supporter of BCA jewelry since participating in the Avon 60-mile Walk in 2002. Subeeds, will you PM me with the mailing address or do I need to contact you???

Ok, here's 3 that I made. Which do you all like best? I am happy to send all 3.

The first is an elastic, double strand made with rose quartz, faux pearls, SS plated beads, and bali spacers.

The second is made with foil lined glass, vintage crystal, rose quartz, rock crystal, champaign/pink irridescent glass and SS plated beads and toggle clasp.

Number of downloads: 7

The third one is strung on memory wire with every imaginable pink bead I had! A plethora of gemstones and glass.

Is this what we're supposed to make? I don't have any pink ribbon charms to add, but could maybe try to find some. Do I need that?

Beautiful, Jenni! I really like that third bracelet with the memory wire.

The bracelets I've made have either had silver or pink ribbon charms or lampworked ribbon beads but I don't think that's a "requirement" for BCA jewelry.

Hi Jenni, All of your bracelets are lovely! The memory wire bracelet at the bottom looks like it would fun to wear. The others are more elegant, but I'm sure all of these will be a big hit. (A volunteer group is never going to say no to an offer of more than one!) The earlier instructions say to use pink beads, so I don't think you need to add a pink ribbon unless you want to.

I was thinking of making a spiral stitch bracelet or maybe doing one with tile squares, but maybe I need to rethink this... a trip to the bead store later today sounds like a plan. I already have several shades of pink delicas onhand. I've been making the small squares for the Bead It Forward Quilt Project (for breast cancer research). Are there any other seed beaders out there? If so, please consider making a square for this project: http://www.shanigans....homestead.com/ I should warn you that making these little squares appears to be addictive. I was planning to make one or two and just finished #5, and already have the next two planned. It was the excuse I needed to learn peyote stitch.

Do we need to contact the other Rhonda for her address?

Rhonda

I agree that the quilts are gorgeous, but Jeanette Shannigan from Alaska deserves the credit. She's the one who started the Bead it Forward Quilt project, and puts together all of the squares. I got involved this year, after reading about the project on another message board. After making one or two little squares, I was hooked. :) I decided to make a square for all the people I've known who have battled this disease, and the growing number of friends who are surviving. The quilts get auctioned off at the Bead&Button show. This year's theme is Roses.

And thanks, I just emailed Sue. Thanks for posting pictures of your bracelets. It's always fun to see what people come up with, with any given theme. Rhonda

Pics are a super idea!! I will pm everybody either Fri. or Sat. with Rhonda's address. I'll post a pic tomorrow of mine. Remember, you can enclose a business or a little note with the bracelets. I'm sure the people who get them would llike to know where they came from.

It's quieter at work tonight than it will be tomorrow night AND I found the scrap of paper in my purse with the address, so everybody who said they were going to do one should have the address by now. Please, get them out by Oct. 15 at the latest. You guys really rock for doing this.
