Some of you may remember the story I posted a few months ago about an incredible woman who was a beader. If you don't here is the link http://www.firstcoas...w9iuUawt34uSBv6. Since next month is Breast Cancer Awareness month I would like to honor this woman's memory by asking you to make a pink bracelet and send them to me. (Acually, another mod, Rhonda, has volunteered her address and she will forward them to me). I will then forward them to the news station for them to be distributed. Both the news anchors who are involved with this cause are breast cnacer survivors, and were delighted when I brought them this idea. The deadline for mailing is Oct. 15. If you have a business card, please enclose that with your bracelet (and maybe $1.00) to help Rhonda with the postage to get them to me. I would like a business card because I think the women who recieve the bracelets might like to know where they have come from and who made them. The forum may get some publicity from this, too. If you pm me (wait till at least Thurs.) I will give you Rhonda's address. So who is going to make a bracelet?

I will also make a bracelet or two.

I'm in!

Do you know if there's a way to send our business card with the bracelet to the actual patient/survivor? I would love for the person who receives mine to be able to know where it came from and be able to contact me if they wanted to. Just wondering...

Yes, absolutely you can send your card along with the bracelet... it would be nice for them to know where it came from!!

So.... anyone else going to join in?? Looks like we've gotten a good start. I am in too, of course. I just won't finish mine until after my trip. Maybe I will learn something really cool to be able to do! :woohoo:

So, c'mon all you wonderful people out there... join in the fun for a terrific cause and hopefully we can all make a small difference together! :D

I'm in! Not a problem at all! Will these be sold or auctioned off to benefit this lady or a Cancer research foundation of some sort? I probably didn't read everything thoroughly, but I was just wondering what is going to be done with these. Thanks!

Sue will be back on the forum tonight I think Barb... she can explain it more then. I am not exactly sure what they are doing... but I do know it is a good cause and they will do good things. Thanks for offering to join in everyone... I know Sue will be very happy when she sees all the responses today. :D

Me too; mom's a survivor!

How 'bout sizing???? Should we use elastic, or make sure there are extension chains/toggle, etc.?? Do all the beads need to be pink or just the main focus?

Wow!! You guys are sooo cool for doing this. Two of the news anchors at the TV station are breast cancer survivors and do a lot of work in Jax.. These bracelets will be given out through the Baptist Hospital Women's Pavaiilion or through The American Cancer Society to women who are under going treatment or are considered survivors. That's what the bracelet lady did before she died. She just made them and gave them, so to speak. As for sizing, I'm just going to make basic size 7's. Elastic might be a good idea though-especially since some women might have lost weight from chemo. Please include a business card, or even a little note if you want to. I think it would thrill these people to know where their bracelet has come from. I have no idea what moved me so much when I saw this woman's story on the news. It still chokes me up. I just know that I wanted to do something and you guys are helping do this. I guess it's kind of a pay it forward kind of thing. She did it because she wanted to and now she can't. We can do it because we want to and we can. Thank you all.
