July Item Per Day Check-in and Share

Here's how it works...you set your goal and see what you can create working with jewelry every day this month! We define "item" very generously - it includes: website or online shop work, promotion, ordering and organizing supplies and workspace, snagging treasuries, blogging, sketching, planning, preparing for and attending shows, processing orders, and, actually making jewelry!
Just want to lurk? Fabulous! Should you decide to participate, please post photos of your stuff so we can all ohhh and ahhh and encourage each other! Oh..and don't forget to post items in Show and Tell as well! Not everyone has discovered the beautiful work hidden in this thread!

I stole the above from Maureen .... And I copied most of it too!

Hoping things settle down for me now so that I can make some jewellery and get ready for Christmas - if not, then I'll just enjoy all your pretties!

Of course since I've been so busy with the wedding and been out of town not much jewelry stuff to share, although all the ladies attending (all 3 including me) wore my earrings, that was fun!! I gave the other 2 ladies a pair of earrings, they got to choose which ones they wanted, it was fun!!
I'm trying to take a few days to recover my energy, not feeling very well after all the commotion. I'll be back jewelry making very soon!

I've been working on a new necklace that I was supposed to be making a tut for, but somewhere along the way it got too complicated and my note-taking system broke down. I'll have to give it another go and keep it simpler, lol. I know I'm in trouble when even I'm not sure what I did!!!
I'm going to try to contribute to this thread this month . . . things have been crazy for me lately, but hopefully they are settling down some.

Okay, so today I've made a simple pair of filigree style earrings in Goldfill with carnelian drops. I'll have to photograph them to share later because I'm supposed to be a good girl and clean carpets today. I was actually supposed to clean them yesterday but I ended up celebrating the completion of a custom order from our own Erin instead.
Sometime in between carpet cleaning I need to send out email reminders to my local list for workshops for the month of June. I have one workshop scheduled for tomorrow, so that will be my jewelry related activity tomorrow.
I'm glad to be in on this challenge this time. It will help motivate me and I'm excited about it!

Welcome to everyone new and seasoned - let's make it a great month!
Jewelry stuff for me today was limited to starting this thread and drooling over Delia's 190 carat basket wrapped commission. It's a jaw dropper!
My eye is about back to normal so I'm EXCITED - back to having two eyes and a long weekend....looks like jewelry making is in the future!

Jennifer I am glad that your eye is feeling better.
Long work shift today and on call for emergencies tonight so my only jewelry making was shopping for a book and antiqued brass supplies to go with my salvage pieces.

Today I got a basic micro-maille bracelet done (just Byzantine, nothing exciting!) and added clasps and .925/C MY tags to 8 bracelets. I've found the past few weeks that if I make up a bunch of bracelets and just drop them in a small container, I can "manufacture" clasps, add the tags, and then pop the whole bunch in the tumbler.
I feel better about my stock levels now. It's not where I should be, but my "bigger" shows are behind me. I think.
Doing a bunch of research and emails out to folks this evening. I wanted to find out what other LBS are charging for their maille classes, and what they are teaching. I'll teach the basics, but I also want to offer things that are a little out of the ordinary!

Cindy, glad to hear you've made the decision to start teaching. It's fun and profitable! You can try googling for other maile workshops to see what other instructors are charging.
So ... in between carpet cleaning today I did manage to set up notifications for my workshops for the month. Well, all but one and that's towards the end of the month so I have a little time to do that yet. I also managed to wrap a fossilized Mako sharks tooth with a green corn stitch which turned out well. I never did get a photo of the earrings or the sharks tooth. That's okay. I'll make that a project for tomorrow possibly. I have workshops tomorrow as well I might end up putting photos off until saturday. We'll see.
G'night all

I should have moved them to a finer media about 11pm last night, but I got a weird phone call that turned into two hours of repeated harassment calls from a drunken lunatic. I may turn that story into today's chat thread just to get it off my chest. Anyway, I totally forgot about the castings, so they're not finished yet. No biggie, I can't deliver them until next Tuesday when the Braille people are back in their office after the holiday weekend.
In the meantime, I also need to do some bead work and get an order ready to ship. Yay!
