Not sure why or how, but my purse and my coat pockets have weird contents. I'm not talking about the normal things you'd expect to find like a wallet or keys or whatnot, but really strange things.

Here's what I found while cleaning out my purse today:

A spoon - ???
A dried up frog - a gift from a first grader
Ticket stubs from a speedway motorcycle race
An unopened roll of Rolos - score!
A bullet - confiscated from a kindergartner - it was hunting season
Coins from other countries from past vacations - I guess if I go back to said countries I'll have money to spend!
Beads, jump rings and crimping pliers - no surprise there
A feather - got me, I don't know

Coat pockets:

Sunflower seeds
Rocks
One sock - ???
Rubber bands
Dry dog food - I know why that's there - treats for the doggies for coming when called, but still
Swiss army knife - not mine and have no idea where it came from

Have you checked out your purses, wallets, backpacks or pockets lately? C'mon - fess up. What do they contain that strikes you as odd?

:)

I got a new purse a few weeks ago. While cleaning out the old one, in the bottom I found a fairly large quantity of round dark orange plastic balls (not beads, no holes) about 1/8" in diameter, like you might find in a beanie baby or other such 'beanbag' toy. I have absolutely no idea how they got into my purse, since we don't have any beanie toys here. That was really weird.

I love putting on a coat that I haven't worn in months and finding money in the pockets! It's like a prize.

I have a messenger bag that I use most days, and it's too small to hold much 'extras' - but right now it's nominally empty, and still contains a small bottle of hand sanitizer, business cards (mine), a pen, flashlight, a small baggie of acetaminophen and ibuprofen pills, a small hobby clamp, and a hand towel. I was going through it recently, and discovered that I was carrying around two sets of replacement AA batteries, eight in total, for a camera that I didn't even have with me. It's not quite at the dried frog level, but I still thought that was odd.

The home of weird things for me is my large camera bag. Most of what I intend to carry in there is odd enough on its own, but I recently discovered that I was carrying around a little point-and-shoot camera that I'd forgotten about. Naturally, I put it back in the bag - I hadn't missed it before, so now I know where it is, and I probably had a reason for adding it to my kit in the first place. If I ever remember what that reason was, I'll be all set.

When my kids were small, I won a party game by producing odd things from my purse. I had something from pretty much every category she named. No dried up frogs, though! Rocks, leaves, food, toys; yup, all that and more.

Now that my kids are grown, I'm boring; just the necessaries. Nothing odd at all. And only kleenex in my jacket pockets.

Many moons ago, when DS was about 7 or 8, I was going through his backpack after school. Found the usual notices, worksheets, etc., and one mystery object. It seemed like tree bark (which he brought home -- along with stones -- on a fairly regular basis), but it wasn't quite right. I was turning said object over and over in my hands when DS walked into the room and said, "Aaron is letting me borrow that. It's a toad!"

And it was indeed a small, dried out, mummified toad. Half interesting, half ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

"Put it in my backpack after you're done. I can only keep it for one day." (There must have been a waiting list.)

Nothing that was once alive ever went into my purse. It was bound to get ost in there and I didn't want to find it months later. Formerly living things always went into the coat pocket then the back porch ledge.
I used to have a purse I loved-it was black leather and just the perfect size for me. Icarried it for 5 years until it finally gave up the ghost. While transferring stuff to another purse, I found reciepts that were 4 years old, along with some Cherrios-DS was a toddler when I had that purse and I used to keep a zip lock bag of them in my purse. The most unusual thing I have in my purse now would be the tiny amber bear my Grandfather carved for me for my birthday the year before he died.(We are Bear Clan Cheyenne). It's about the size of a dime and I have always carried it in my purse.
Take nothing for granted. Life can change irrevocibly in a heartbeat.
Some days, all I want to be is a missing person.

Nothing odd in my backpack, really. I did fish two staplers out of it this morning, though - off to check out a new farm/craft market and needed to make room for loot.

Are chop sticks odd? I keep a set with me in case of spontaneous chinese food.

I don't know about the rest of you, but after reading the responses, I'm finding this thread to be pretty darn funny. I'm also glad to learn I'm not the only one who has weird and old stuff in my bag.

Kevin, I'm sorry, but I'm keeping the frog. Sentimental value, you know. :P

On second thought, Kevin. No! No, being a complete sentence and all. B)

Yes, chopsticks count as odd, Andrea.

:)
